Refunds: No refunds, under any circumstances, are available once a course has commenced.
If you have paid for a course which is subsequently cancelled, you will be notified and a full fee refund will be processed automatically. Refunds if processed are processed on a weekly basis and take approximately 2-3 weeks to present in the applicant bank account.
All other courses must remain viable and be self-financing: therefore a participant will not be permitted to commence a course/module unless the course/module has been paid for in full by the learner prior to commencement.

Course Overview
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in psychological concepts, theory and practice relevant to the development of the Child.
Course Content
• Learners will be able to:
• Research theories of development change and continuity in infancy, childhood and adolescence.
• Evaluate a range of factors influencing and impacting on the psychological development of the child.
• Appraise different theoretical models of child and adolescent development.
• Assess the importance of transitions in influencing a sense of self.
• Analyse different scientific methods and their application in relation to child behaviour and child development.
• Critically evaluate how the role of social, biological, cultural and historical perspectives affect the development of children and adolescent.
• Explore the development of gender consciousness and its impact on self-identity in children and young people.
• Use empirical research in acquiring knowledge, informing best practice and constructing scientific knowledge in a specific child development, education and or care context.
• Analyse the implications of own attitudes, values, beliefs and assumptions in relation to issues of relevant policies and best practice.
• Identify personal learning goals and assist others in identifying learning and personal development goal
In order to demonstrate that they have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence identified in all the learning outcomes, learners are required to complete the assessment(s) below:

Assignments 40%.

Viable courses:
For a course to commence, it is necessary to enrol a minimum number of participants. If this number is not reached, the course will be cancelled.
Course deferral:
Once a course commences, participants may not defer their place on that course to another term.
Transfers policy:
If a participant wishes to transfer to a different course within the same term, a request should be sent by email to info.gti@gretb.ie
Assignments / projects:
Dates for submission of coursework will be provided by the tutor at the beginning of the course. Coursework will not be returned to the participant once submitted for assessment. Therefore, it is advised that a hard copy of all coursework submitted should be retained by the student.
Self-directed learning:
It is the responsibility of the participants to inform themselves as to course content, duration, etc.
